Brisbane, Australia | Go Arnie....... agree wholeheartedly. We typically have great results from the Trimble GNSS FieldLevel to the point that not one of my customers (nor myself for that matter) would ever go back to lasers. Flat slopes less than 0.01% will still run water (though slowly). In this part of the world, GNSS is far better than GPS RTK. We did use the GPS RTK for years before the GNSS receivers became available and at that time we were getting 25 - 40 millimeters of elevation drift throughout the day with good PDOP's but it did cause some problems in flat fields. To be fair (in case someone thinks this is a Trimble add) a couple of guys I know real well run the Topcon GNSS 3-D systems and their experience is now pretty much the same - great elevation repeatability.
As far as chasing lights to go grading is concerned - in my humble opinion, that's simply the best way to mess with your head..........................
