NE IOWA/ SE SD | When they do samples they measure "harvestable" ears for population, and then take ave. ear length times ave. kernals around to find a close yield number. Then they use historical data to figure their average "depature" from final usda yield for that state. The test weight issue was a problem for them last year, but I never would consider the profarmer tour a joke...though i know there are a few here who disagree.
