Subject: spraying glyphosate on beans (again!)

mid Illinois
Back in the old days (pre NewAgTalk for me) I used to spray my 30" row beans before row closure with glyphosate (always have a pre emerge down, so weed pressure at spraying is low) , with xr flat fan nozzles, 15 gpa, 30 psi, and lots of AMS, and got wonderful weed coverage and kill. After researching here what others were doing, people said I was doing it all wrong: "too much gpa, use ams substitutes, and use AI nozzles, etc.", so that is what I have been using. Dropped gpa to 10, use ams substitutes, and AIXR teejets. Just looked at a bean field sprayed 12 days ago with generic glyphosate, and am not happy. Big weeds dying, but smaller weeds not. (appears coverage not as good as needed to hit small weeds closer to the row) So I am figuring on trying some Turbo teejets, and using AMS again. Just looking for suggestions as to what you would try. Wouldn't mind going back to flat fan nozzles, if drift wasn't a concern. (also, can't jack the pressure way up with my sprayer setup at present, limited to 20- 50 psi range) TIA
