Subject: My field trip this weekend

Iowa
This weekend we went back to my hometown for a family visit and took some detours on the way back home today...
Hubbard-->Decorah-->Harmony/Canton, MN-->Cresco-->Osage-->Hubbard

Overall:
1. Very, very few strong looking soybean fields. Countless soybean fields where the weeds are so thick that it was easy to drive by and not be able to see the rows.
2. Multiple corn fields with large areas of weak canopy color.
3. Countless fields where vehicle tracks from past field operations are obvious in the canopy shape. While this can usually be seen from aerial images/pictures, I do not recall another year where it has been so obvious from the road.

There are a handfull of soybean fields that I pass on my daily commute that have been detoriating continusly for about 2 weeks and as of Friday, are almost to a light brown color.
