SC Iowa | Sure not drying out yet...... 3.2 inches since Thursday evening and that's on top of 8 inches of previous June rain and another system coming through later today...pretty ugly situation for the far southern Iowa farmer who has been fighting this wet weather since about April 23 with only enough relief around Memorial Day to replant some corn, which means a lot of beans in bottom tier and a half of counties haven't been planted.....
Concern building over what the Corps of Engineers will need to do to control the 2 major flood control reservoirs in central IA.....looks to me they are going to raise the outflow going into the Des Moines River enough to flood out crops between Red Rock (SE of Des Moines) and the Miss River...
This morning the NWS is still predicting a significant rain event of 3-5 inches for central Iowa over next 3-4 days....
be careful out there working in those adverse conditions.... | |
