Germany | that pickup works really nice. We used to swath canola for some years back in the eighties when we started with this crop. We often had trouble with rotting and sprouting swathes due to frequent wet weather conditions. We did not have a pickup head and feeding the swath through a grain head was simply painful for the operator and the combine as well...
We use a header bottom extension and side sickles now and direct cutting canola is fun now. New varieties that ripen evenly and won´t get down have made things easier, too.
In your direct cutting video you are using the reel much, is shattering an issue? Would a bottom extension be an option for you to minimize loss?
