Thanks for the explanation. But it doesn't seem right a farmer cannot deliver on a futures contract. If actual producers of wheat as well as actual end users cannot sell or buy their needs through the exercise of futures contracts upon expiration then I wonder what good are the futures markets. Do they exist for speculative purposes only?
