S. MN | There are still many independent seed companies out there. My guess would be close to 100 in the US and Canada if my sources are accurate. About a year ago I talked to someone in the industry, I think a Syngenta employee that worked with the traits, I can't quite recall, but he said there were about 5 new seed companies per year being formed across the US. So they are out there. I can think of 7 independent seed companies in Minnesota just off the top of my head. All marketing either corn and/or beans under there own brand. | |
