Tipton, IN | Even with the Dihaploid method the inbred bringing the RR trait would be pure, but you would still have potential to have dead plants if the production process was not done correctly. If it is male delivered RR then any missed tassels on the female would produce non RR seed (not to mention an inbred plant in the farmers field instead of a hybrid). Any blow in pollen could also cause some non RR plants. No matter how good the conversion and no matter how "pure" the inbred, there is still opportunity for production issues to cause some problems in the farmer field. Also, I think the OP mentioned half of a percent which is a very very small amount. | |
