Subject: Hay preserver mainly questions about AgriKing's SiloKing

Parsons Kansas
I've been considering switching my preserver. I just don't know if my current one is doing it's job or not. I sell all my hay and I haven't had any complaints from anyone but I am having my own doubts.

I has seen some alfalfa treated with SiloKing at a farm show a few years ago and that was some very nice hay. Every since then that has been stuck in my mind.

I have talked to two AgriKing representives and both have been very nice and extremely informative about their product and alfalfa hay making in general.

I thought I would ask some questions to you guys to get some "real world" answers. Not that I don't trust AgriKing, I believe the more the information the better!

Can you or do you use this on grass hay?

What percent of moisture do you bale at and you feel comfortable about? I was impressed with their website and their explaination of: If the realivitive humidity is this add __% to your tested moisture and use that to set your applicator to apply this amount of product. I felt this was a little more exact then the "You'll just have to play with it and see what you think. You'll get it figured out" I hate that answer to a question.

Which applicator did you choose? I have a Hesston inline small square baler and a CIH 8465A round baler. Both balers would need to have a blower along with the applicator to blow the product into the hay as it's being baled. AgriKing offers a Gandy and an auger style that they make or have made for them. I would like to have an applicator for each baler but I think I could make some quick change brackets and make one applicator work for both balers. I like the auger style applicator because it looks like it gives the operator more control but I can see that it is more money also.

What is the cost per pound for the product? Have you ever had a hard time getting it in a timely manner? I know this is my responsibility for having it when I need it but I was wondering if you ordered today about how long do you have to wait to get it?

What are your rates that you apply the product? What have you found that works at __% of moisture?

Do you have an "on the go" moisture meter in the tractor to keep track of moisture? I would have to assume that if you one that you felt it was a need investement.

Any information about this would be helpful. It's going to cost some money to get this system on my baler and to buy the product and to use the product. I'm not against spending some money for a product or a better way of doing things but I just want to make sure that it is money spent wisely.

If anyone has anything to add or tell about hay preserver in general speak up I'd like to know.

As Always Thank You! Darren
