Subject: Power Inverter

NW OK
Was thinking about getting a power inverter to put in my truck but i have heard bad things about some of them not working very well. I dont think i would need over 2500 watts. Any suggestions on a good one?

I have had great luck with these in the past. I only purchase "pure sine" convertors as "modified sine" convertors can ruin batteries on laptops and cordless tools.

Maybe there different today, but I have a 1,500 watt sine converter on my boat, and it is not a small piece of equipment. Unless they have changed a lot in the last 5 or 6 years, a 2,500 watt like mine would take up a lot of room, like there would be no way it would fit under the hood or a seat. But, maybe they're smaller today.

I think mine came from Northern Tool, or one of those discount houses. It's a 3500 watt, and takes up about half a shelf in the utility body. So far no issues with ruining batteries, but only had it a year. It will suck the truck batteries down over a weekend if I leave the tool and greasegun batteries charging on it.

Just make sure you get one with 2500 continuous and not max Watts. I purchased a small one to run a laptop a few years ago and didn't pay attention to max vs. continuous. Needless to say by the end of the 1st day of the trip I had purchased another one that had enough cont. Ws to run the computer.
