Central Illinois | I have 30% irrigated acres. That is why I sold 30% for 2011. I know that is alot to sell and I am in know way saying that everyone should be to these levels. Each producer has different risks. I set a $/acre goal based on my proven yields and with crop insurance I was above my profit goals. My family has to eat and I have ground to pay for. The market gave me the opportunity above my goals so I took advantage. These sales maybe well below the market come fall but I am making money as long as I have the crop. If weather scare presents itself this summer I am looking to reown 30% of my sales. | |
