Owings, Maryland 38.6856 N 76.6752 W | I have 2 farms that are showing magnesium deficiencies, I know it is late, one farm has corn coming up and the other will get beans if we get some rain. The farm with corn has 6.4 PH so that is just a tad off, lime just applied should have that corrected soon and the lime contains some mag as well.
The farm going to beans has a PH of 5.4, lime has been applied but will not be completely corrected in this season. This is where the mag deficiency is the worst. Recommendations from the soil analysis say 160 lbs. short on mag., that will not get corrected completely in one season either.
I'm just looking for ideas, don't need any flamings, Is it too bold just to apply epsom salt. Came to find out that epsom salt is actually mag sulfate in the heptahydrate form. Easily available here.
