SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ
What I was referring to was breeders are concentrating on cyst lines. Both parents are needed with the reistance to breed futher lines. The original Cyst Resistant lines had yield drag, incoporating them into the system takes alot of time.
When I started farming back in the early 80's our area was lucky to get 4o to 45 bu beans,my old plots show that yield. Last year I was in the mid 60's for plot yields. Yes we have increased bean yields in my neck of the woods. Also better disease resistance, emergence scores and standability.
Cyst has slowed down the breeding and so did the original RR lines. The new RR2Y do not have the yield drag associated with RR1's. Thats because the RR2Y trait was put into the best lines right away were the RR1's came from a line that was not as good.
The yield drag was genetic not chemical.
