Southeast Missouri Cotton farmer here. We market cotton on the december markets. and with the new farm bill wanting to lower the govt loan on cotton to 48 cents. we will probably see several acres move to other crops in teh future. We normally grow 2200 acres of cotton and 300 soybeans. but with current market conditions we upgraded combines and planting 650 acres of corn, 500 acres of soybeans and cutting back to 1350 acres of cotton. got some landlords all they see is cotton, cotton, cotton. Hope that will change in the future. | |
