NW Washington | I read an interview of one of the engineers that worked on the New Generation tractors and he said they tried a V-6 engine too, but it got dropped pretty fast. He said the tractor they worked from and made modifications during the early testing and design work was a Massey Harris 44.
I always wondered how the old John Deere salesman went from singing the praises of the simple two-cylinder engine over the competitors 4 and 6 cylinders to selling their own 4 and 6 cylinders. Probably about the same as when they had to start selling STS combines. | |
