Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS
I am also very nostalgic concerning the 4010. I grew up on one that my dad bought used in about 1968. I don't know the year model or the serial number, but it was the only tractor he kept when he shut down his farming operation in the early '90s. After his death in '01 my mom sold it to a neighbor who reportedly restored it. I would love to see it and would even more like the opportunity to buy it. For several years it was our "big" tractor, pulling a 9 tine Oliver chisel plow, a 12' RWA JD disk, or a 12' W&A Do-all. After planting it pulled a 4 row JD rear mount cultivator. It also packed silage, pulled cotton wagons, mowed pasture, and did anything else we needed it to do. The original owner was a friend of my dad's who traded it in on a new 4020. I have no idea how many hours this 4010 had on it, but it made 13 crops before it was overhauled. When we had that done they put a "4020 kit" in it. I couldn't tell that it pulled any better than before, but it was an easy tractor to drive and I greatly preferred it to my older brother's 706 Farmall.
