Any 10-20 syncro will run out of oil if you leave the clutch down long enough-the trans. pump isn't live, it drives off the top shaft. If the system is good, you may never notice it, the cooler & res. up front hold enough oil to supply the main pump until the clutch is engaged. The problem happens when there's a high-pressure leak to sump. the main pump stays in stroke & draws down the cooler, then cavitates. I was driven almost crazy by a 4000 that had that problem worse than anything I've ever seen, just got worse for several years...culprit? Frickin' PTO valve....
