Never heard of an auctioneer taking a break for lunch. I bet there were a lot of empty parking spots when they came back from lunch.

That reminds me of the auction sale in a local small town, was an AC and Chevrolet dealer. they auctioned off all remaining tractors , new / used cars / trucks and all the shop equipment.
The sale started at 9 AM and at noon the auctioneer said we break for lunch, 1/2 hour. The only place to eat in this little town was the bar, where you might get a microwave sandwich and wash it down with a beer or stronger.
Empty stomachs absorbed alcohol like a sponge.

The sale resumed and bids were much stronger than the morning session.
A wobbly legged pair right in front of me , looked at each other, one said,"Did I get it ? What did I buy??". A lot of cheap floor stands and well worn extension cords and air hoses brought new price or better.
The owner who was a bit sober faced in the AM, wore a wall to wall grin in the PM.
