Subject: Planter drive: Convert wheel drive to hydraulic drive?

Mid-Missouri

We currently use a Kinze 3600 16/31 with a four section older tru-count electric clutch shutoff. KPMII monitor and five outlets on the planter tractor using GS2 for steering with the idea of maybe using swath control some day. It has the factory meter drive with the two small tires on the left and two on the right. I know little about hyd drive, but like the ability to change pop. on the go.

Do people convert these older systems ever to hyd.?

Would you put four different hyd. motors on the four seperate sections?

What would control motor speed for different ground speed as well as different populations?

What are stepper motors that I read about?

Thanks
