| 'Here' is a little different for everyone, obviously, but here's what stood out this year. We had something like 101 days over 90 degrees this year, so heat tolerance was at least as big of issue as drought tolerance.
All Pioneer numbers here. 12517, 10300 and 13777 all had a good year. My personal best was actually 14830, but it had more water than the 13777. Had 60 acres 14744. Incredible stay green, yielded about the same as the 13777.
Got 14830, 12517 and 13777 booked for next year, at the moment.
We used to plant 116-118 day hybrids on good water, but anymore the mid range numbers have been knocking it out of the park. Had 18512 in the plot this year. It seemed solid, but I just don't have a good reason to plant 118 day corn. | |
