My thoughts are that an early oil change is only necessary if the environment in which the engine was assembled is less than a clean room. Engines assembled by sandal wearing people in a desert dust storm absolutely need a break in oil change. The most important reason for an early oil change is to remove the abrasive dirt floating in the air during assembly.
