Subject: RE: Auger: reflight or replace?

SW Iowa
I just reflighted 1395 Farm King I bought used in 2019, fairly cheap because flighting wasn't great then. 120' of 12" flighting (main screw + swing with some double flighting on each) was a bit over $5k through Des Moines Iron. Had local independent welder do the work and haven't gotten the bill on that yet... was going to be a winter project then flighting was backordered and ended up just getting main screw done and in for harvest, need to pull swing hopper apart to finish. IIRC when I ran numbers vs buying new screw through Farm King dealer summer 2025 I thought reflighting would save at least $2-3k. Welder has always treated me fairly so partly I decided I'd rather put money in his pocket.

Auger seems to runs smoother empty with new flighting than it did prior. There are a few spots that were getting warm on bottom of tube that he thought might be from him not getting flighting welded on perfectly straight but said should wear in fine; time will tell on that I guess. My understanding is Farm King uses heavier tube than some other brands, so hoping it will all work out.
