md.mcwill - 11/5/2026 06:46 After high school I got a 3/4T 4 sp 454 4 barrel pickup used from my uncle. I put headers and cherry bombs with 2.5" pipes on that pickup. Just driving down the road at 70 you could hear those pipes. Nothing like a big block and cherry bombs. I sometimes think about that pickup.
As a little kid I'd hear the older guys cruising with their "hollywood mufflers" and dual pipes wishing I could do the same. I grew up in the era of tail fins and two tone and never got tired of the sight and sound of it. The first V8 (International Scout) I bought was soon converted to dual exhaust and "glass packs" so I could enjoy the sound of that little 304 trying hard. This 81 GM pickup came standard with dual exhausts (part of the diesel package) and they lasted until the 2000s before the original mufflers rusted through. When it was time for replacement you can guess what I chose to install. Still running the original pipes on the rest of the system. |
