Never tissue tested. Alfalfa. It would be neat to see because it's such a fast growing plant a weekly test to see what that would look like.

If we throw fertilizer out there and it gets tied up in the soil. Then what's the difference at that point? As far as the plant getting phosphorus from the phosphorus in the soil that we put there and the phosphorus in the soil that's already there?

How do we know what's available or unavailable? How long is it tied up for? When does it become available? Who is it available or not available too? If you put rock phosphate out and it's slow? I would ask the same thing slow to who how much of it gets tied up

I had a 7-year stand of alfalfa never applied a nickel worth of phosphorus. Never saw phosphorus deficiency on the crop. The soil test maintained over them 7 years. It was 25 on a P1 when it started and it was a 28 seven years later. To me that says it maintained. How is that even possible?

We're soil testing at 0 to 6 in. But where's the Alfalfa Roots? If very little of the Alfalfa root mass is in that 0 to 6 in then how relevant is that soil test to our Alfalfa? Wouldn't it be more practical to be testing at the depth of the roots?

How much root mass does a plant have compared to other crops?
