Nice sound.
Reminds me of my 1956 Ford Fairlane I bought for taking me to work in California back in 1963. I just wanted an inexpensive car, and that was just what I got, at 299 $. It had Fords largest V8 with a 4-barrel carb. and much to my horror it drank gas like a cow drinks water.
To finish the story: As soon as I could afford it I traded it for a 6 cyl. 1959 Chevrolet Impala which in comparison was a fantastic car and easy on the gas too.
I had similar cars in high school Jorn. My dad bought me a '55 or '56 Ford on my 16th birthday. Small V8 maybe 273 cuin with 3 speed OD. The only problem was the 10 years of rust destroyed the floor pans and I lived on a gravel road. Hard to keep clean in it. It would really go though but I don't remember it drinking lots of gas. I was able to talk him into trading for a '59 chevy 6 in a row which took much longer to get up to speed but really drank gas. Seems like I overhauled the engines of both cars in his shop but after 70 years the memory fades. |
