Augers we have seem to wear the tube out before the flight is completely dead. Sometime have improved one for awhile by just changing the input flight where most the wear is. Maybe the bigger tubes are built better then our older smaller augers.
I'd probably actually check the tube in a few spots before I bought a screw.
