We just went through this and I personally said MacDon FD's pick up more dirt than flex heads... Also I owned one for years when the First MacDon FD70s came out and had settings memoized plus the help of some super techs... First I will say they are good heads but not perfect... Now they are impossible to set perfect for every condition, As was said few posts back... That you change the hyd fore/aft tilt (A B C D) and spring (float) psi changes from smile to frown positions... You change the header height (1 2 3 4) and anount of spring (float) psi changes... And anything (hump/ridge) not firm enough to lift whole wing - center - wing... One of those sections will be shaved off and dirt injested in machine... Firmer and smoother the ground the better... Can you adjust float from cab on the go.. ??? YES you can... Raise ride height will make it lighter and use the tilt will make ends (wings) heavier or lighter running in field... So best to set both in mid positions and adjust for for normal conditions... Even then during extreem running you might have to turn some wrenches... Just keep track of measuements to put back for normal running...
