Wife's 2022 Highlander with 54,000 miles going in for transmission replacement.  Do a google search on " Toyota highlander gear whine".  Well documented issue taking out transmissions at low miles that they have known about for some time.  I thought Toyotas didn't have common issues???  We've had three Toyota Vehicles in the last 15 years, Tacoma, Sienna, and this Highlander.  All three have had "common issues" that they have a reputation for NOT having.  I can't say any of them have been bad vehicles( jury still out on this Highlander) but the reason we bought them was for their reputation of not having issues.  The main thing I have learned from owning these 3 vehicles is that Toyota and their fan base are very good at keeping these things quiet.  I have family and friends that are die hard Toyota that tell me they never have problems with their vehicles.  Then while having simple conversations about the issues I've had they say "Oh, ours had that too but that's nothing to complain about, everything has issues of some type."  Seriously?
