ECIL | The home we are moving into has a very nice concrete floor in the unfinished portion of the basement. The previous occupants had three small dogs constantly penned in, resulting in a very heavily urine stained area. So far the floor has been cleaned by washing with an ample amount of Dawn and water (wash out the mess) followed by straight white vinegar (break down enzymes). Almost all of the smell is gone. I'll mop it again with Dawn and water followed by another application of vinegar. The stains tell me the urine penetrated the concrete which was finished when the house was built in 2013.
Should I apply some type of treatment or sealer to the concrete? If so, what is recommended? I don't want to use anything like a paint or shellac. Neither hold up to use over time. The area will be used on a regular basis. Any type of flooring such as linoleum, LVP, stick-downs, etc won't be suitable either. | |
