I think it's extremely unlikely that the copilot had zero contribution. I previously mentioned the passengers, owner, and maintenance as possible contributors, roughly in that order of likelihood.
This thread is why do plane crashes get more attention than car crashes, and the perky young co pilot with lots of pics that are easy to find is about a quarter of the reason. Part of that quarter is that there have been so many female pilots involved in crashes lately, a few random "internet experts" speculating is nothing new, the unusual part is a staunch defense of someone, citing her "smarts and capability" as if only dumb incompetent people make bad decisions. If this had been only middle aged pilots (even female) crashing into the ocean, or remote Canada, the story would be gone by now. | |
