The really interesting part is that had I used my normal hybrids and spray just no purchased inputs, this field could have easily ran better than APH.

Question on this statement, do you think doing it this way would have gotten you a better ROI? What is the biggest influencer on ROI difference of the two practices, is it the price per bushel of sold product, or is it in the associated costs between the two practices?

I'm not Jon, but given his parameters, GMO traited corn, insecticide seed treatment, and mainstream herbicide would have likely increased yield. My organic corn always ends up with a less than perfectly uniform stand because of seedling insect feeding and hoeing and cultivating aggressively enough for good weed control always requires sacrificing some stand.

As for ROI, organic corn in my area for 2026 crop is in the $10-12/bu range so I can live with a little lower yield.

Personally, I am pretty sure that my per acre input costs are slightly higher than my non organic neighbors but gross and net $ are higher in the organic system.

In my area because of. The limited growing season a week delay planting can be a pretty good yield impact. A little minor weed issue can be a pretty big yield impact. There is zero forgiveness to our climate and our soils.

I don't know if I'll ever hit a conventional yield. I might come close. But that is meaningless to me. Dollars in versus dollars out. That's all I care about

If 100 bu gets me 700 Dollars profit. No complaints there!
150 bushel might get me a thousand Dollars profit or 700. Depends what them extra bushel cost

There is also the long-term goal. I don't want to be buying a bunch of fertilizer to produce a yield. My soil cannot support.
