"Gotten power off" when they were trying to CLIMB 2000 more  feet over it?   Should have navigated around the weather further?   Yeah, they'd been navigating around weather since they made feet dry at the Florida coast.   They should have just deviated 300 more miles and completely ignored filed flight plans and ATC approvals and freelanced through all the dozens of other airplanes that were making deviations around various weather in the same area.
