| Been calling it a 100 year old house for at least 25 years now. Anyway, “fixing up” the basement some to make a small tv room for the growing kids. I’m sure the outside has no waterproofing. The basement is dry, never gets water on floor, but parged walls do have some spots of efflorescence. Not a lot to be gained, but wondering if anyone has had any luck with something like Valspar brick/stucco/masonry chalk block paint labeled to help with efflorescence? Looked into mineral/silicate paints but they anre ideally applied to bare concrete and this has some prior paint already on it. Would like the walls to breathe if at all possible but most paints do not have good permeability ratings, which is why I’m not in love with a product like Drylok. I’m aware the issue needs to be fixed from the outside. If anyone has tried anything similar to this with decent results please share if you would. Thanks! | |
