Co pilot wasn’t exactly a seasoned veteran. ..
Everything I've heard about this is from youtube. That second guessing of the co pilot, and insinuation of DEI hire, are getting a lot of criticism online. And this may be the worst example to use of a DEI pilot. Or not, I'll reserve judgement until facts come out, if they ever do, I don't know if there are cockpit recorders on that class of airplane, or if anything survived that crash. What I do know is there has been a remarkably long streak of female piloted crashes lately. Kind of like the trans shooters lately, seems... odd.
Seems aviation has standard procedures for everything that could possibly come up. There was a similar icing crash recently in WI, smaller plane, but nose dive and overspeed, presumably the Lear jet had better options for avoiding icing? So if the facts were known, I'd guess they were unprepared for the icing, possibly even negligently so given the forecast, I'd guess they ignored the signs too long, and made very small mistakes in the actual handling of the situation after it was mostly too late. And we'll probably never know which individuals were responsible for those decisions: co pilot, pilot, owner, customer...
