East of Broken Bow | When Covid hit, and most things were closed down, we wound up playing a lot of video games with the kids. I thought it was at least something we could do together.
Then, I managed to find a few kayaks, 2 single seaters, and a double seater, and we started going out to the river most weekends. We would take turns on the double seater, me with one of the kids, then the other, me with the wife, then the wife with one kid, then the other. Made me realize that the gaming was 'next to each other' more than it was 'together'.
That said, I don't think gaming is the most loser-ish thing, the most loser-ish thing I know of would be taking some sort of mind altering substance, whether it be alcohol or drugs. Now, I am not rallying against alcohol, a friendly gathering where people get together and have a few cold ones and tell jokes is not a bad thing. A guy sitting alone in his basement drinking instead of doing something else is. | |
