E ND | You have no backup camera at all? That's interesting, I wonder what they didn't have at the time to complete the camera? Is it a display/chip issue? That would complicate an integrated solution and would probably mean having a dealer look at the build spec and see if they can update it to camera or camera ready functionality.
No GMC experience but on our Fords we have done both solutions:
Integrated a second headache rack mounted backup camera, and the upfitter installs a small toggle switch in the dash that somehow changes the display input from the bumper camera up to the headache rack camera. Not sure if the Ford displays accommodate two camera inputs or if they're adding some kind of powered splitter module.
We have a coupler with add-on AgCAM cameras and displays which work OK...the units we have don't offer a picture even close to a modern OEM display and they're pretty clunky, they're fine in a work truck but they'd look pretty out of place in that nice GMC interior!
Either way I think consulting with the dealer and/or a body upfitter for the best answer. | |
