That is a spectacularly judgmental thing to say.  I have never been an obsessed gamer but have owned a few gaming consoles and my kids have as well.  Like most things in life, when not regulated and used appropriately they can be a waste of time but it does have some real world applications.  Do you own any machinery with a joystick or remote control? Kids who game learn these skills way easier/faster than people who don't.  What about our spectacular military and their drones?  People piloting equipment without putting a person in harms way?
