WCMO-SWMO Area | The same here...We drive I-49 quite often in western Missouri between Joplin and Kansas City....I always leave early so that we have plenty of time to arrive early where ever we are going...I set the cruise on 72 mph and people blow by us at 80-90 mph and a few even faster..Lots of the speed demons have Texas or Oklahoma plates...I usually pass a few semi's and thats about it..Everyone passes us..The other day one person did follow us for 10 miles before passing us..People still seem to have plenty of money for gas as they sure arent getting great fuel mileage...I hear they are raising the speed limit to 75 mph in some places on I-49...
However,I was in Iowa several years ago on 2 lane Hwy 71 with a 55 mph limit..I had the cruise set on 56 mph and very few passed me..One lady followed me for 50 miles and never passed..Others followed me too for a few miles before turning off.It was mostly local traffic..
About 20 years ago we were on I-40 between Ft Smith and Little Rock..I think most people on there that day were running 90 mph....One Sunday morning it was the same way in down town Dallas-Ft Worth..I think some were around 100 mph.
