Amherst WI | Going through my mom’s hoard was a frustrating experience. It brought back a lot of memories of a rough childhood. I could see where her money was going from my dads child support payments, to bail out her brother while she herself was losing our home and sending me to town to buy 10 gal of diesel at a time for heat for the night.
She’d keep tax records from her brother and parents from as far back as the 80’s, obituaries from everyone in the county and newspaper articles important enough to keep but lose to the hoard and never be read again.
What I didn’t find is my chain saw I bought as a teen to help heat our house, my snowblower or my FFA jacket. I assume she sold the first two for some quick cash somewhere along the line. | |
