Problem we have here with planes is anything that’s a fast flight danger , high line poles and wires , fence rows with some big ol tall trees , and house places . The house places must be insurance related problems because a plane just won’t get within several feet , several , of someone’s yard . This is big cotton country and late in cotton year when we defoliate , any place where spray was shot out high in the air or not at all like around house places , the plant bugs that knock off the cotton fruit have a hay day in those areas, so much so that you can see much more plant stalk and a lot less of the pretty white fluffy stuff you take to the gin to get your paycheck in those lightly or non applied areas . Bug killer misses during the summer growing season don’t show up at all , just green leaves everywhere, but in fall when you take the leaves off and open up the white stuff it’s easy for a farmer looking at his crop to see where spray just didn’t hit heavy enough or not at all . Overlap streaks as a farmer I really don’t mind because the bugs die harder in those overlaps . A plane will never ever have the kind of deadly accurate pass after pass repeatability a drone does and that overlap streak is gonna stick out like a sore thumb . But again as a farmer , not applicator although we are that too , overlap streaks don’t mean crap to me , just don’t give my fields skips or lightly applied areas . Just how it is on my little place . There’s a high probability that there are very very few folks on these pages that have spent any where near as much money as I have over my career paying for spray plane applications,52 years of plane applications on a 100 percent furrow irrigated cotton farm that also grows rice will call for lots of aerial applications. Just pointing out the amount of experience there’s been around here looking behind aerial applications. It’s been a lot

Absolutely agree the plane isn’t the tool for every job and it’s not going to get some areas as good as a drone if there are tight fields or tall trees or both. And having started my aerial application career in west Texas I know firsthand how visible an application job can be on defoliation, or herbicide work for that matter, since that was 90% of our work. But I have a friend that’s heavily involved in most of the pattern testing with fixed wing, rotary, and drones and his data consistently shows what all see from the air, and it’s not in the drones favor. This is why a lot of the marketing for the drone industry gets laughed at as the data we see from the testing doesn’t agree with what’s being pushed. As far as getting closer to houses or wires and such, all the drone guys I’ve seen stay just as far away from them as we do with the plane
