Southeastern Tipton County, Indiana | Bigshot - 11/1/2026 03:06 Check your turbo aneroid! Common Symptoms of Aneroid / AFC Issues • Low Power / Sluggish Takeoff: If the reference line is pinched, cut, disconnected, or the diaphragm ruptures, the pump won't sense boost properly, keeping low-boost fueling restricted and causing the engine to feel weak until high RPMs. • Excessive Black Smoke: If the AFC pin or diaphragm sticks in the "full fuel" position, or if the starwheel/pre-load is adjusted too aggressively, the engine will dump unburned fuel before the turbo spup up, resulting in heavy black smoke. Adjustment & Troubleshooting Steps • Check the Boost Line: Inspect the small air/boost line running from the intake manifold or turbo piping to the aneroid housing on the injection pump to ensure it is not cracked, loose, or plugged.
