Bremen, KS | The Landoll company states 1963 as its founding year. Many of the employees were seen wearing 50th anniversary tees and sweatshirts in 2013.
One of his popular early products was a slid-in stock rack for pickups. In the spring of 1973 dad took delivery of a new Chevy 4x4 he had ordered the previous year and bought one of those racks. I recall going to Don's shop at the time with dad, I was 10 or almost that age, which was located behind the Ford dealership (Boss Motors) across the alley, south of Broadway and west of the railroad tracks in Marysville.
Rather humble beginnings and no one but the Good Lord could see what lay ahead for the next 50+ years. One neighbor has been with the company from very early on.
I've no proof but I suspect Landoll employs more people than Union Pacific around these parts and UPRR employs a lot of locals.
