Columbia County, WI | Slight update. I pressurized the intake to 30 psi and sprayed down with dawn/water. I had alot of bubbles in one spot and a few bubbles in another spot along the intake manifold gasket. I had the bolts torqued to 18 ft lbs. Manual calls for 21-27Nm (18ft lbs should be 24Nm I believe). I retorqued to 21 ft lbs and bubbles seemed to have stopped. It's a m8 8.8 bolt so my reference book says dry torque of 25 ft lbs so I should be safe.
Everything else downstream of the turbo seemed good. I doubt this is the entire problem but one part of it.
As for ideas brought up:
Rotor is in low speed, running about 300rpm, kinda the sweet spot in the past.
Only parts collapsible on intake are two big rubber elbows from air filter to turbo. I'm not ruling them out but they feel rigid enough to me.
I can't be sure that it wasn't smoking in soybeans. I usually work by myself. I only have a small convex mirror pointing in the right direction and the smoke has to be over the bin extensions. With the right wind, it drifts off before I can see it.
A neighbor borrowed me a timing light so I'll probably check that before I go to the field.
Also leaning towards putting old injectors back in if the other tests don't fix it. I will have to scab some parts off the new ones to get the old ones to spec, ie time consuming.
Keep the ideas coming. I REALLY appreciate them!!
