Subject: RE: Conversion factor for earlage?

western iowa,by Denison
We weighed off some earlage as it got dry here, around 700 acres chopped to dry as it kept raining, ended with 66# equal to 1 bushel of corn
my typical 12x20 wagons held 36,000# or 545 bushel-which was typical to get from 1.8 to 2acres on a load
there is some charts on google that covert earcorn to dry corn with weights but the only true way is to weigh combined corn next to the same acre of earlage to develop your own chart

9ton to acre was my average, explaining that dry earlage has more dry matter and adapting the ration is probably the hard part as it is a lot dryer out of the mixer
2000# divide by 66 is 30.30 bushel to the ton

I do not have the computer in my chopper-the one that tells you yield and moisture-they have to be calibrated daily with a scale and moisture test, corn changes in the field a lot

19 times would equal 105# a bushel of corn-be pushing 40% corn moisture
