Subject: CIH 1680 Underpowered Black Smoke... I'm stumped

Columbia County, WI
I have a late 1680 combine that seemed fine in soybeans but once I started combining corn its is really underpowered. Also is leaving a trail of smoke, not horrible but can definitely see it in the mirror.

Backstory is I replaced the head gasket last winter, and put in new aftermarket injectors. I pop tested the injectors and set them to 3500psi. Oh, it's a 8.3L cummins with water jacket aftercooler, no wastegate, no aneroid on pump. Everything was fine (I think) during beans. When I got rolling on corn, it was pulling down bad with 6 row head @ 4.5mph in not spectacular corn. By the end of the day an injector went bad, spring broke. Repaired injector and tested all 6 while I was there, 3500psi. Tried going again, still underpowered. Replaced fuel filters and both air filters. Put a pressure gauge on and plumbed to ether port on intake manifold for a boost gauge (pulled ether atomizer out). It read 14 maybe 16psi under full load. Got a CIH reman turbo, still 14-16psi under full load. Put on new hoses for aftercooler and changed intake gasket when I pulled injectors 2nd time. I talked to a mechanic I trust, he thought maybe fuel issue. I plumbed up fuel pressure gauge, 22psi at an idle, 25psi all other times.

I'm am running out of ideas and pulling out my hair trying to figure this out.
Thanks in advance!
