IA/MN/WI | 100% 4213 is a great option, I've seen it yield over 270bpa farm average this year, but he asked for an early RM corn, not a 92day. And of course, 4213 is cheaper, its agrisure above, 3319 is a trecepta. 4213 is also going to be 2 pts wetter, thats drums out to about $15-20 a bag in drying unless you plan to just let it sit in the field for 2 months for the deer to eat. 4213 is $205-215 a bag depending on volume, 3319 is $275. Factoring in drying costs on 170bu corn for planting a full season number in your geography and we're talking about $20-30 a bag difference. And 3319 is definitely better agronomically in the west where you are subject to high winds. If 4213 catches a case of crown rot it will be flat, so it has to be managed with some type of on seed fungicide or in furrow option if you have any history of fusarium or poorly drained clay. That brings the cost per acre even closer.
If he was going full season planting a blend of 4122 and 4213 would be a great option, 4122 is still steady in poor years and is a rockstar if it has good conditions to run in.
