Buhl, ID | Jaylor makes a really good machine. I ran one behind a 4430 for a few years and really liked the unloading in front with the cross conveyor. But you're looking for a truck so that probably wont make much difference. Jaylor was common 20 years ago but there aren't any nearby dealers, and their biggest isnt big enough for the large dairies so Jaylor is hard to find here.
It comes down to service imo. 25-30 years ago when a lot of California dairies were moving here, they all wanted Kirby. From what I'm told is if you called Kirby with a breakdown at 6am on a Sunday they would rush the parts or a loaner to get cows fed. Kirby was late to the vertical mixer market so they've been replaced by Peecon, Knight or Supreme.
This old Schiler I'm using drives off the automatic transmission but most the newer ones use a hydraulic pump like you have. I dont think the torque converter could handle a bigger box. When we had sweet corn silage around here it was a real workout on the transmission.
