Ohio | I didn’t read any of the replies. But I can imagine the emotion with the feeling you are feeling about selling. That’s a decision that will affect the future and once you sign the dotted line, it’s gone. Forever. Honestly you have a good train of thought. Sell. Enjoy life. Die. Give your kids money that left. No arguments then. No emotion. Just a check that divides between them. A farm that you leave to more than one person that you know will sell, will cause issues unless laid out properly before hand.
I would make damn sure not one of your kids or grandkids want it before it’s sold. The last thing the lawyer told my aunt when I bought her farm, you now no longer own any farm ground. She even teared up a bit and coulda cared less about it. So I would say, this decision needs to come from you, your wife and your kids and maybe even your grand kids. Would sure be hard if your grandson has to drive by that place 30 years from now thinking how he coulda had the chance to be there
Good luck. Pray about it. Take your time. The choice will be obvious some day. It just may not be today that that choice presents itself. | |
