| I have a good friend, happens to be bachelor was milking 60 cows on home farm, got to be about 70 and sold it all. Was bored so has had a couple different jobs, bought a nice house and cabin, now has bought another smaller farm because he missed it. Now says "I should have went on a month long vacation and came back to my cows, wish I would have never sold it". My thoughts are rent it out, maybe rent house too and do your traveling, see if after a few months if you even still like it or if your wife likes it or not. You can only sell it once. Far as your grand son goes I find it very presumptuous when the older generation makes decisions for the "good" of the next generation or the one after because farming is too "hard", too "stressful", not "lucrative enough" etc. everyone is wired different and if he wants to farm he will, but it would be a lot easier if he had a farm to start with. | |
